  I co-founded and am co-directing the AI Safety Initiative Groningen to provide students and scholars with a platform to learn about and discuss potential risks from advanced artificial intelligence. At AISIG, we host workshops, talks, hackathons, in-depth gatherings, and AI Safety courses to educate and spark discussions on this important topic.

  I am coordinating and facilitating the AI Safety Fundamentals Technical course to a cohort of (20-30, BSc-PhD) selected students. The course consists of 8 weeks of readings, discussion sessions, and a final project. The content includes the motivations and arguments underpinning the field of AI safety, while the second half focuses on proposals for technical solutions. Topics include: reward misspecification, instrumental convergence, goal misgeneralization, task decomposition for scalable oversight, adversarial techniques for scalable oversight, reinforcement learning from human feedback, mechanistic interpretability, agent foundations, AI governance, and careers in AI Safety. Covers topics including: intelligence, the brain, basic AI, machine learning, philosophy, and language - Basic Scientific Skills:Teach students how to find and evaluate relevant scientific literature, find and test good scientific research questions, conduct a small scientific experiment, write a scientific paper on the findings, and present the research in an oral presentation.
