Design footwear and performance products for 20+ global athletic companies. Clients: Salomon, Pearl Izumi, Brooks, Eddie Bauer, Levi's, Roots Canada, Speedo, The North Face, and Vasque. KEY DESIGNS • Contributed 20% to Salomon’s best-selling Speedcross 5 by designing the heel counter. • Designed a flat pedal cycling shoe featured on a top mountain cyclist’s social media. • Developed a cycling product line for Pearl Izumi by presenting designs as part of a team. • Traveled overseas to clarify shoe prototype features with the production team. DESIGN PROCESS Research, concept development, refinement, finalization, tech packs, and color design for footwear and products for men, women, and kids. • Revise designs with clients by negotiating to achieve cost and performance goals. • Inspire consumers by creating mood boards to tell product stories. • Sketch and draw 2D designs; render 3D design concepts in Photoshop or Illustrator. • Develop prototypes with an eye to human form factors. • Design material and texture elements to achieve high-end performance goals. • Finalize tech packs: construction, form, style, materials, color, fit, and cost/value. Footwear Categories: lifestyle, casual/dress, sneakers, running, sandals, road cycling, MTB shoes, workwear, technical performance, and various boots (women & men). I have worked on both soft and hard athletic products including road cycle gloves, MTB gloves, protective gear, flotation devices, fins, snow helmet ear pads, hunting knives, toys, and packaging. My mentors have been footwear design leaders for over 20 years. They have taught me manufacturing processes, research, how to communicate ideas to the production staff, aesthetic styling, and performance solutions in relation to form and visual renderings to achieve top quality standards. My design work for various activities supports me to get me out of my comfort zone and provides consumer insights. I love my job. http://www.idwportland.com Show less
