I openly conveyed my proposals to informally resolve issues with all parties involved. At times, I answered inmates requests (BP-9) and (BP-10) from the Regional Office. When practical and efficient and only as the last alternative, I authorized the use of overtime to be worked at each department. I participated in budget meetings and recommended proposals in budgeting for educational programs that were essential to the development inmate population. I reviewed the education and recreation budget. I maintained an open dialog with union officials when concerns were raised over the recreational staff’s portal to portal, time & attendance, position description and staff requests for transfers. Two recreational positions were vacated and I reviewed the two best qualified applicants which included vouchering. I presented the Warden with my recommendations and both positions were filled with two new transferring candidates. During my tenure SOI I had two temporarily vacated positions (Factory Manager & QA Manager) and one full time remote accountant position. I conducted the interviews of qualified applicants and presented the Warden with my recommendation of the best candidates’. Once all positions were properly staffed I provided direct supervision, training, and mentoring to all new staff. I reviewed and make recommendations to Corporate Management on new products, equipment and materials to include requirements on inmate labor and loading of the factory. I provided Product Support Center with MODAPTS and times studies to be incorporated in the factory overhead rates. Show less
