I had the pleasure of overseeing Joren during his internship with BC Hydro. Over four months, Joren made significant contributions to my team's work on improving the company's contract management and supplier relationships management practices. Entering a field in which he knew little about, he faced the projects I assigned to him head-on and ensured we were aligned every step of the way. I was most impressed with his professional manner, communication skills and forward-thinking mindset which all shone through while being well-liked by his colleagues. Joren would be an asset to any team.

      - Led an annual review of BC Hydro's top suppliers (over $2B in spend across 200 suppliers) which I completed by analyzing historical spend data as well as collecting information from five separate teams of procurement professionals. I presented my findings to the Director and Leadership Team, providing them with the necessary information to determine which suppliers required critical attention during the upcoming fiscal year.- Analyzed the performance reporting process for high-value contracts across many different categories such as Traffic Control, Line Services, and Civil Underground. Working with the Business Process Improvement team, I provided my superiors with a report outlining clear gaps in how KPIs are measured, collected, and transformed into meaningful information. - Assisted with the development of RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) documents. These RACI documents outline the roles associated with the Contract Management & Supplier Relationship Management practices and act as the standard for how these practices are to be followed/implemented.- Facilitated a virtual conference call with 50+ attendees to summarize my internship experience. My presentation provided the Operations & Enterprise division with feedback on how to support, and set-up future interns for success.

    • Project Assistant

      - In the event of a large-scale natural disaster, the Government of Canada provides financial assistance to provincial and territorial governments through the Disaster Financial Assistant Arrangements (DFAA) program, administered by Public Safety Canada. I prepared documentation for a federal audit by reviewing invoices associated with the reconstruction of several hundred flood sites across British Columbia. Using invoice-tracking spreadsheets, a photo documentation system, and by developing close working relationships with field staff located throughout the province, I provided my superiors with the necessary information to sign-off that project costs were eligible for federal reimbursement under the DFAA program guidelines. - In addition to my main responsibilities, I researched leadership development and presented my findings to the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM). My work provided the ADM with recommendations on how to structure a leadership development program that would be implemented throughout the BC Public Service.
