Veterinary Assistant
-
Nov 2010 - Feb 2013
Quipolly Equine Centre is a horse reproduction centre, specialising in Artificial insemination of mares, Embryo Transfers and semen collection from stallions. My position with QEC saw me handling mares and stallions throughout the day, as well as preparing mares for A.I. and embryo collection and transfers. I also assisted the Veterinarian Al Simson with semen counting and mobility assessments. I learn the correct procedures for attending to cuts, abrasions and lameness. At QEC there was often a lot of vet checks conducted on horses so I learn how to look at ultrasounds of legs and follicles.
