    • Community Relations Intern
      • May 2016 - Aug 2016

During the summer of 2016, I was a community relations intern for the WNBA team Chicago Sky. While there, I helped plan various events and spread awareness about both the Sky and the WNBA as a whole. One of the events I was able to spearhead was the annual Chicago Sky Cares Fitness Festival. The goal of this event is to provide a fun, engaging environment for underprivileged youth to learn about living a healthy lifestyle. To accomplish our goal, my team of interns had to recruit both vendors and participants, create a staffing plan, and organize the layout of the event. Our event was a huge success and the feedback we received was very positive. This experience taught me how to communicate effectively and professionally, efficiently manage my time, and coordinate logistics for an event. I played a key role in securing the Sky’s third largest sponsorship contract of 2016. The company, a new website that helps reward community service, tasked us with getting people to create an account for their website. By implementing grassroots marketing techniques, we were able to spread information about our new sponsor and came up with creative ways to incentivize people to sign up. We successfully reached our goal of onboarding 19,000 people to their website and received our six-figure partnership. I also received a bonus for contributing 1,025 people on my own. I had an assortment of game day duties which allowed me to hone many different skills. Some of these duties included organizing on-court promotions, managing the asset table, and selling raffle tickets. These roles required attention to detail, time management, and strong people skills. The Sky games enabled me to show that I can be accountable in a fast paced environment.
