As a virtual intern I was given the opportunity to attend weekly meetings. Meetings, ran by the DA and ADAs, consisted of presentations describing the court's gang unit, juvenile unit, drug unit and more. Each week the presenter held open Q&A's following presentations, allowing interns to ask deeper questions about specific roles in the office. Along with weekly meetings, I joined the opioid task force, attended task force meetings and received updates from the task force. Lastly, the DA's office provided weekly newsletters of the district's court proceedings, allowing me to stay attuned to daily happenings in the court. Show less

Job Shadowing
-
Apr 2021 - Apr 2021
Throughout a series of virtual meetings and one day of job-shadowing, in the office, I learned Portal to Hope's mission and how it is achieved. From the virtual meetings, I was given the information needed to understand victim's services. During my day of shadowing I observed the police station, observed victims shelters, spoke with victim's advocates about day to day tasks, and witnessed what a day would be like working for Portal to Hope.
