    • English Tutor
      • Jun 2016 - Aug 2017

I was recommended by my Honors English professor to interview for a position tutoring English in the Tutoring Center at Saddleback College. I was hired as an English tutor and began working during the hours I was not in classes. I received training in Socratic Tutoring, and gained skills in time management and teaching others. During this time, I had the privilege of tutoring students from a wide variety of backgrounds and skill levels. I also had the privilege of tutoring students whose first language is not English and seeing their unique perspective on the English Language. Show less

I value this experience because I had the opportunity to work with children with learning disabilities and children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. I was tasked with helping the children with basic reading, writing, and math activities. In addition, I supervised the children during lunch, break-time, or whenever a teacher needed to step out of the classroom. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience as a Curves trainer, and learned valuable skills such as time management, sales, keeping inventory, customer service, and teamwork. During my time as a Curves trainer, I was also taking courses at Saddleback College in pursuit of an Associates degree for transfer in Psychology. In December of 2015, the Curves location in Laguna Hills closed.
