Head of Science and Mathematics
-
Aug 2014 - May 2017
As the Head of the Science and Math Department at the American School of Bangkok I worked to support 7 science and math teachers and 1 lab assistant. My primary role was the review of resources, hiring for department positions, leading professional development and chairing department meetings. I also assisted in a collaborative retrofit of our outdated science laboratory. Furthermore, I successfully facilitated a shift from an old in-house curriculum to the more research grounded Next Generation Science Standards from the USA through writing proposals, conducting cross-mapping analysis, and leading in-house professional development.

Through continuous assessment for learning and as learning I was able to encourage student metacognition. Assessment of learning in my science classes consisted of a variety of mastery, interpersonal, creative, and understanding tasks which promoted higher order thinking.
