Simon Jackson
Joost is the most honest person I know and very knowledgeable in the area of XR, I consider him a close friend (even though we have never met in person). He is a true expert, willing to both listen and teach, especially through his blog (https://localjoost.github.io/) where he shares the information he learns. Where he has gaps in his knowledge, he is open about it and will ask for help in order to learn himself, never facing away from a tough problem. He has a kind heart and his support of the open-source community is admirable and if he can, he will share what he builds to help others. I wish there were more in the community as brutally honest as Joost, making truth and honesty their core.

Developing and designing HoloLens apps with Unity/C# and mobile apps (Windows 10, iOS and Android using Xamarin Forms and XAML) for business purposes. This includes back end components like app services and caching on Azure. I also do a lot of sales support and 'storytelling' to customers. I worked on several projects here: * A Windows 8 app for a care company * A Xamarin Forms app running on Windows Phone, iOS and Android to generate a kind of 'market' for freelancer caretakers and people needing care at home (not related to the previous project) * a Xamarin Forms app running on iOS, Android and Windows Mobile for supporting the Microsoft Inspire 2017 event * Three HoloLens projects for Schiphol Airport: one for a remote support case, one for showing a building extension in real life, and one to show hidden assets in a building * A HoloLens training application for the Dutch railways * A HoloLens application for supporting maintance of water purification plants * A multi-language chatbot application based upon the Microsoft chatbot framework supporting Office 365 users with an interactive intelligent Q&A base, as well as a procedure walker for doing frequently used multiple-step proecedures. The company's main business was 'body shopping' - after 9/11 and the simultaneous dot-com-bust assignments dried up, I missed GIS too much and I decided to return in the field. It was short but I learned a lot. Be Value was aquired by Ordina in january 2007. Application development from junior to senior positions in a GIS environment, working on and with Intergraph and Bentley software - most of which has disappeared in the mists of time. Roles varied from junior application engineer to (ulitimately) senior technical project leader, when I directed a team of 5 people in a large UNIX to Windows/VB porting project at PTT (currentely KPN) Telecom. This was the place where I learned the ropes of the job and I still have fond memories, especially of the general atmosphere and a lot of co-workers. In 2004 ISIS was aquired by Bentley Systems and has ceased to exist as a separate entity. Show less
