I was lucky to have Joon Kiat in my team. We worked together for about 1.5 years and during the journey he consistently exceeded expectations. Whenever it was necessary to apply his capabilities or learn new technology, methods or models, JK was able to deliver very high quality work. I loved his documentation and also his attitude seeking cross-check validation of his works to avoid any bugs or inefficiencies. We worked on Graph DBs, Privacy computing, Real time risk systems, Kafka streams ingestions and processing, GCP, etc. etc. Great team-player!

Joon Kiat was one of 3 initial hires for the data team handling Vaccination Operations as MOH began tentative first steps to protecting Singapore. This sounds very dramatic but when you have to work with evolving processes and unclear data schema (because we were exploring every data source that could help us understand what we needed to work with and what we needed to update on), you need colleagues who can work with some chaos and make sense of it. Joon Kiat was always quick to grasp what many stakeholders were asking for and he was quick to work out solutions which he and the team would then work on. I cannot share more as the work is ongoing and sensitive but I'd hire him again in a hurry if I started another start up again.
