I worked with Joon-Nie to set up and launch Newsplex Asia's inaugural website and from the beginning she was an amazing mentor for me as I was just starting out my career in tech and media. She took a chance on me and fully trusted my abilities and potential, and that belief and confidence has stayed with me all these years. I am so grateful to have worked with someone like Joon-Nie, who has deep industry knowledge and extensive experience across various media platforms, and also a strong passion for nurturing the next generation of journalists. As an industry leader and a pioneer in digital media, I've learnt a lot from her and she has truly been an inspiration for me.

It is my privilege to count Joon-Nie as my friend. Strong, smart and opiniated, she is ever ready to take a stand and yet is sensitive, compassionate and diplomatic to understand the need to balance that against respecting the views of others. Like me, Joon studied law at NUS and both of us eventually ended up in the media industry. I used to catch Joon-Nie as a broadcast journalist national TV. But it was in the four years that I worked closely with her, both of us as consultants for an external crisis communications program to train senior public servants, did I see her real prowess in action. Within an hour after the simulated press conference ended (complete with imaginary but realistic scenarios of exploding planes and deaths in numbers) she would be able to whip up a news broadcast segment to show the participants how news reporters turn events into real-life news stories, in quicksilver speed. I have also recently started working with Joon as MC members of the Singapore Press Club can see her commitment and dilligence in making things happen and turning thoughts into action. She has so many different activities, committees and projects in her life (many of which is related to the media industry) that I cannot keep up with her indefatigable action. If you are looking to learn about the media industry here and globally, Joon-Nie is the one to start talking to.
