I had the privilege of working with Jon on the R&D team in Oslo. We were focused on developing prototypes to facilitate trend analysis and generate new ideas to guide the company's strategic direction. Several of these prototypes were successfully presented to the company, and others significantly influenced new projects. Jon's leadership style greatly influenced me, and it's a model I've strived to emulate. In essence, it's about trusting your experts and your team, while also being decisive and making well-informed decisions based on the team's input, all the while keeping an eye on the bigger picture and the company's objectives. Jon excelled at motivating his teams, ensuring they delivered their best work, and fostering a strong sense of teamwork. He had a discerning eye for selecting top-notch employees, resulting in consistently strong teams. It was truly a pleasure to work with Jon, as it allowed me to bring out the best in myself, and I would gladly collaborate with him again in the future.

Jon is a senior leader, manager, producer, project manager, product manager and UX professional. I had the pleasure of working with Jon both at Funcom and at Telenor. I got to know Jon at Funcom, and quickly came to know him as a witty, smart, warm and fun colleague - producing great games. He truly goes deep into the products he builds, understanding exactly who his customers are and how they interact with the product. His skills are too many to list, ranging all the way from UX design to company strategy - and everything in between - however first and foremost he has just a incredible talent for product development - really understanding how to put the user first - and how to build to support the business' goals and strategy. Jon is a such great guy, he has always been well liked and respected in the teams he has worked in or run himself. He has a great sense of humor and spreads positive energy to his surroundings. I really miss having Jon around the office, and would definitely enjoy working alongside him again the future.

Three years sailing from Europe to Australia, halfway around the world with my wife and child. This ‘once in a lifetime’ adventure, sailing over 15,000 miles and visiting more than 20 countries, provided so many incredible experiences. Completing it safely and efficiently required determination, planning, compromise and development of new skills. Empowered the team to deliver great content, in half the time of other playfields while maintaining the creative direction and quality of the game. • Facilitated communication between the team and game director, to ensure that feedback and approval were given quickly and efficiently and were accurately understood. • Provided objective analysis to the game leads, including improvements in our processes, divesting responsibility and closer collaboration between disciplines, which led to high-quality content being delivered quicker. • Initiated several game improvement activities including daily lunchtime PvP tests, which helped to identify improvements in skills and class design. User experience testing the first 5-minutes across teams and with interns helped improve the new player experience. Prototyping Team - Concepts and Business Development Feb. 2010 – Feb. 2011 • Founded a cross-discipline Prototyping Team to conceive, refine and develop new game ideas and technology. We regularly submitted internal pitches and prototypes to help shape the future developments of Funcom. • Encouraged the team to produce polished presentations and playable demos for business development with external partners, including Nickelodeon and Marvel, which ultimately resulted in a partnership with LEGO. • Initiated a skunkworks team with university interns to develop playable prototypes, enabling Funcom to test game concepts and identify viable designs. This initiative became the primary source of new talented employees.

Early in development, I switched to being the producer and shaped an enthusiastic environment with a cohesive, motivated team that delivered the project on time, on budget and to good quality. • Together with the team leads, we defined the high-level goals for the project. Guided the game through iterations of improvements based on feedback from players and later analytics. Created and maintained project detailing resource requirements, release plans and priorities. • Championed SCRUM and agile development within Funcom. The improvements in productivity in PvM influenced other projects to evolve their organizational processes. • Advocated usability testing, setting up testing facilities and encouraging others through presentations of the positive impact of PvM. This led to later projects adopting similar techniques.
