When the situation presents challenges, Joni is the person who creates a vision of the future and generates the path to make the future a reality. I had the pleasure of working with Joni for 2 years at the Global Alzheimer's Platform Foundation (GAP) and collaborated with her on several innovative programs. When clinical research sites shared the frustrations that their clinical trial participants encounter getting transportation to their trial appointments, Joni spearheaded a national transportation partnership with Lyft to support transportation services for participants in Alzheimer's disease trials. Joni actively sought the opportunity to raise awareness of clinical research and recognize research participants by establishing the GAP Citizen Scientist Award, the first-of-its-kind award to celebrate Alzheimer's disease trial participants. Not only does Joni thrive on turning problems into competitive advantages, she also sees the potential in others and sets them up for success. She set challenges and encouraged me; and she always had time to invest in my success by connecting me with the people and resources I needed both inside and outside the company.
