Jonathon was my direct manager at Perceptive Automata. He has deep technical knowledge and is both forward thinking and pragmatic. I worked closely with Jonathon on many projects including an effort to automate an AV detection and tracking pipeline to a fault-tolerant, scalable solution in the cloud. Jonathon was readily available to review designs and code and offer support for troubleshooting issues. He spearheaded multiple projects at Perceptive Automata, one of which was an AV Analytics DB. This solution was built to calculate, store and retrieve AV drive scenarios and metrics and was based on AWS. Jonathon was able to successfully manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders across Perceptive Automata for this project. To top it off, Jonathon is a great people's manager and leader. He is able to identify each person's strengths and guide the team to collaborate on projects. One of his strongest qualities is his ability to empathize with others. He is truly a pleasure to work with.

I've worked with Jonathon at AiRXOS on serveral data-centric projects where his depth of experience and expertise with data analysis, design and processing have been key. I've also found working with Jonathon that he has a great combination of technical ownership and adaptability. This means that Jonathon can also take on assignments outside his comfort zone and do the deep dive necessary to learn what he needs, to have a thorough understanding required to design a solution to the problem and to execute it. Jonathon has been the point engineer for several short-term and continuing projects as well as a contributing team member on important efforts and a consulting source for data architecture design discussions. Jonathon isn't always the first one to speak up during a meeting, but when he does, he's invariably thought the problem through thoroughly and considered it from pretty much every reasonable perspective. Jonathon has become an invaluable resource to the team at AiRXOS, and I would jump at the opportunity to work with Jonathon again.

Led effort to convert manual, semi-automated and error-prone processing of driving videos to a scalable, fully automated, fault-tolerant cloud-based solution based on Airflow, AWS Batch, ECS, EFS, RDS, and Docker, with built-in alerting to Slack when processing failed Designed scalable event-driven automation to process driving data using AWS S3 events, SQS, CloudWatch Metrics, ECS, and auto-scaling groups Identified and implemented S3 cost savings of $36k / year using storage class lifecycle rules Designed S3-based cloud data warehouse to store and enrich drive and perception modeling data in order to build a Delta Lake based analytics store, which allowed the Data Research team to query millions of pedestrian tracks on various features, such as distance to vehicle, distance to crosswalk, number of frame detections, and more. Improved ability to query pedestrians across all of our data and reduced likelihood of repeating costly calculations. Managed hiring efforts for Data Platform team, identifying skill gaps within team, reviewing candidate resumes, and interviewing dozens of potential candidates. Managed 2-3 direct reports, which included regular 1-on-1s, annual reviews, onboarding and training, creation of and tracking of personal development goals, and addressing team conflicts Managed major projects using JIRA and Agile methodologies, leading sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint review, and sprint retrospective General administration of AWS account and primary liaison with AWS Account Manager Show less

Analyzed and implemented latency statistics for radar data ingestion in ASTERIX format across several stages (UDP, HTTP to API Gateway / AWS Lambda, to Kafka broker, to Java microservice) in order to identify processing bottlenecks, benchmarks and determine feasibility of use for detect-and-avoid operations. Part of team to migrate existing cloud infrastructure from commercial AWS region to AWS GovCloud in order to maintain compliance with FAA regulations. Responsible for migration of production ELK stack and data, S3 buckets and data, AWS Managed Kafka, and IAM roles and policies related to logging infrastructure. Assisted with Postgres database migration, VPC creation and troubleshooting of security groups and NACLs, Route 53 domain creation, and other necessary IAM roles and policies. Identified potential cost savings of up to 90% for usage of Mapbox’s services by stopping unnecessary data processing, preventing unnecessary re-uploads of data, and allowing for configurable processing levels by environment. Analyzed potential customer impact of reducing map accuracy for cost savings. Developed Python code for submitting flight plans and telemetry data from MAVLink protocol to AiRXOS Air Mobility Platform. Create CI/CD pipeline using Github Actions to run tests and submit test coverage to Sonarqube, and create Windows installer and upload to S3 for distribution. Assisted teams with Postgres query optimizations, table indexing, and table architecture. Selected to be part of a scaled down wind-down / transition team in order to provide technical documentation and perform due diligence in case of offers, maintain operations during wind-down, and assist with close of business.
