I am glad to write this recommendation in behalf of Jonathan Ybarra. I work with Jonathan since December 2019, in an internal software development project for the Universidad Nacional de Hurlingham (UNaHur). I act as both PM and PL, as I am the head of the unit in charge of the project, a mixed research/development unit; I work at UNaHur as professor. Jonathan participates as an intern student, he was appointed by means of a competition among university students. Jonathan contributes mainly to the project Web front-end, that uses React for the definition of the views and the navigation flow, and Materialize for the graphic elements. This front-end interacts with a stateless, API-REST backend that uses JSON as data interchange format. Hence the front-end is responsible for the navigational state. When needed, he also collaborated in the development of some back-end endpoints. I found, and still find, to be a pleasure to work with Jonathan. From a technical viewpoint, I can testify that he reunites the various skills needed to participate in the development of a JS, React-based Web frontend. Besides the good knowledge of both language and library (in particular, he currently manages quite well the React component life cycle), he highly skilled in matters regarding HTML/CSS, and also has a deep understanding of Material Design. In fact, it was him who proposed to use Material Design, found the Materialize library, and managed to use it in the project. In top of that, he shows good test for the interface design, in both the distribution of the elements and the selection of colors. As a software developer, Jonathan acquired in this experience as an intern, a good degree of familiarity with a workflow that corresponds to current industry standards: interacts with an issue manager, works in a separate Git branch, is ready to receive the outcome of a code review and implements the given suggestions. In a more personal perspective, I find Jonathan surprisingly mature for his age and experience. He exhibits a remarkable get-the-job-done attitude, as he commits himself to complete each task assigned to him. To this end, he shown several times his ability to search for the information or knowledge needed to solve a problem or accomplish a task. As an example, he was able to understand a charting library and put it into use, when faced to the need to show some charts in a page. Jonathan shows also an inquisitive character, he is always willing to learn new things, and he's a quite quick learner as welll. For all of the above, I heartily recommend Jonathan, and it is my firm opinion that he's perfectly capable to assume a junior developer position. Sincerely - Carlos Lombardi.
