Bio
Mychael Baldwin
My team and I hired Jon as a DevOps intern for the AWS Cloud program at GDIT during the summer of 2016 as part of an experiment in hiring capable and functional junior developers who could have an immediate impact on live customers in a Production environment. Over the course of the 3 month internship, Jon reached for, grasped and mastered each of the challenges presented as part of this experiment - learning the AWS infrastructure/ service stack and Software Defined Network components that the Cloud relies upon for connectivity and security. He quickly demonstrated an ability to grasp new and deep concepts in code and engineers, alongside the flexibility of mind needed to work with OSS tools in a government security restricted environment - having designed and implemented a management framework (including Layer 2 and 3 routing) and automation for hundreds of virtual Cisco and Brocade routing devices in the AWS cloud. In my day to day work with Jonathan, he's proven to be a hard worker with the mindset of a problem solver; balancing a full time school schedule at GMU with Production (time sensitive) deliverable work items without dropping any of the metaphorical balls in the air. I highly recommend Jon and his work. Any business that brings him on board will find him to be a strong hire with very serious growth potential.
