Full-time secondment into the AEMO National Connections Victoria team. Responsible for due diligence studies to assess compliance of generators connecting to the NEM in the Victorian distribution network. Working across multiple projects through application, registration and commissioning phases as well as addressing non-compliances identified during commercial operation. Key functions include review of the proposed GPS and supporting application documentation. I perform PSCAD DD simulations and supervise and review work performed by engineers in the team, and PSS/E studies typically conducted by external consultants. Regular stakeholder engagement is key throughout the process and I take a leading role in engagements with proponents, NSPs, consultants and OEM's.

Lead Engineer responsible for management and execution of power system studies projects. Projects executed to date include feasibility studies for renewable generator integration into islanded power systems, NEM generator connection studies, evaluation of the impact of modular LV STATCOMs on voltage regulation to enable higher penetration of rooftop PV generation, and a power quality assessment. After successfully executing feasibility studies for interconnection of two existing diesel generator power stations using a weak interconnector line, I won and led the second phase of the project for detail design and implementation. The project is now in the procurement and construction phase.Modelling work as part of a prefeasibility assessment for use of a BESS to offset spinning reserve in an islanded network powered primarily HFO diesel generators, demonstrated the technical feasibility of the solution. This work, together with economic modelling by colleagues in our power generation team have resulted in an appointment for further work on this project. I am currently seconded full time into the AEMO National Connections team performing due diligence assessments for generators connecting to the distribution network in Victoria. In execution of these works, I use PSCAD - including SMIB and wide area network studies - ETAP and DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and also oversee PSS/E studies work. I am Aurecon's DIgSILENT PowerFactory software custodian.
