I was seconded to EDF on the Hinkley Point C New Nuclear Build in Somerset. My role on the project included being the CDM and Health and Safety expert for the onshore and off shore Marine Work which included the high risk and complex undersea tunnelling and shaft works in the hazardous environment of the Bristol Channel. During my time with EDF i also managed an international team of CDM–Advisors based in France, Somerset and London and frequently engaged with the French EDF design houses to review the health and safety aspects for civil and mechanical works for the new nuclear power stations. i was further involved in the enabling works at HPC including being site based at HPC for several years. CDM Integrator at Olympics 2012 project

Prior to his current role he worked on the Olympics 2012 building programme as the CDM Integrator for CLM, the delivery partner for the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA). His role was to manage the CDM interface with the ODA, reporting to the Head of Health and Safety for the ODA. He managed the CDM health and safety interfaces with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) and ensured delivery of the CDM Coordinator function across all Olympic venues. He was responsible for ensuring CDM awareness and assist in working towards a common health and safety standards policy across the London 2012 Olympic programme. Jonathan has produced technical publications for the Institution of Civil Engineers and been a key member of HSE/ICE/ODA legacy learning programme following the successful delivery of the Olympic 2012. These publications are currently being used as industry best practices standards for all following major civil builds project in the UK. The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) awarded the coveted ‘Safety in Construction Medal’ to Jonathan Jones (Mace Sustain) for his contribution to a co-authored technical paper titled: Delivering London 2012: Health and Safety. Seconded to the Cross London Rail Links Ltd project for 32 months, where I was responsible for providing CDM Coordinator services and managing a team of Mace CDMC and Health and Safety professionals. Attended expert panel meetings on behalf of the client for tunnelling and general civil engineering activities. I engaged with and liaised with external enforcement bodies and project stakeholders, such as; HSE, Police and Emergency services London Underground Transport for London and Network Rail. The client base was extremely broad and I also provided Health and Safely advice and services to major event organisers. I produced risk assessments for clients including general risk, generic, fire and any other risks specific to their business. The role included setting health and safety objectives for the client, producing plans and prioritising objectives according to client resources. I produced health and safety management control systems, which detailed health and safety policies, procedures and guidances. I investigated site accidents, including fatalities and identified liabilities and provided recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
