Almost immediately after graduating I received a temporary opportunity back at my previous company. The role involved working alongside another member of the quality team assisting with the responsibilities that come with a fully established Quality Management System, while also taking over all responsibilities related to ISO 14001. Thus, I became the go to person for any environmental related issues. This meant that I was reusing the skills previously learnt at TomTom whilst building on these to understand and make use of a new standard and a variety of different processes and systems, to maintain a recently implemented Environmental Management System. Responsibilities: • Maintaining a comprehensive Quality Management System --- o Planning, organising, and conducting internal audits o Documenting the outcome of internal audits o Assisting with ad-hoc queries o Overseeing the merging of two departments (including the merging of both Quality Management Systems) • Being the sole contact point for the Environmental Management System --- o Inputting part data into IMDS o Carrying out self-assessment questionnaires (Supplier Assurance, EcoVadis) o Conducting a legal assessment related to environmental aspects of the products (substances contained, packaging etc.) o Ensuring our products comply with the latest REACH, RoHS, California Proposition 65 regulations o Conducting conflict mineral reporting to customers o Managing the creation of WEEE reports o Contributing to the creation of annual reports o Ensuring KPIs and OKRs are on track / determining contingency plans if they are not o Dealing with ad-hoc requests Skills and Competencies Learnt: • Researching and learning the ISO 14001:2015 standard to become the central source of knowledge for a whole department and to some degree, the entire company • Improved interviewing and auditing techniques • Ability to clearly convey complex issues • Ability to coordinate work across multiple departments Show less

My main role was to achieve certification for an entire department with the ISO 9001:2015 standard; but my responsibilities extended beyond this.Responsibilities:• Implementing a Quality Management System---o Learning and understanding the ISO 9001:2015 standardo Interviewing colleagues to understand the current processeso Documenting the current processes in a centralised Quality Management Systemo Conducting a gap analysis to see which parts of the standard were not meto Closely working with colleagues to improve and communicate the new ways of workingo Spearheading an audit initiative, including training others in a self-built team, and scheduling a comprehensive audit plan with process owners and other auditorso Supervising other auditors to ensure it would be adequately continued upon my leaving• Reporting open-source compliance with licenses---o Learning and using Protexo Teaching another colleague to use Protex effectively upon my leavingSkills and Competencies Learnt:• Working in a fast-paced intellectual environment• Ability to meet deadlines consistently• Interviewing techniques to minimize time wasting• Day to day problem solving• Researching and learning the ISO 9001:2015 standard to become the central source of knowledge for a whole department• Organising meetings in an appropriate manner• Documenting processes succinctly, managing the review of said processes, and the approval and acceptance by the process owners• Creating new processes to adhere to the constraints imposed by a standard• Enforcing new processes and process changes showcasing excellent communication Show less
