C2-162 General Lab Manager
-
May 2014 - May 2020
Working as a Laboratory Manager for Professor Pawliszyn I mostly focussed on the maintenance and use of hyphenated GC instrumentation while guiding GC and environmental analysis focussed graduate students in the laboratory. Moreover, I also continued the research and development of the now commercialized TF-SPME technology supporting the companies releasing the technology onto the market as well as end-users. I also trained new students and industrial users on the application and implementation of SPME technologies during our bi-annual SPME course once serving as the lead instructor at Pittcon 2020

As a member of Pawliszyn Reserach Group at the University of Waterloo, My research is focused on the development and applications of various on-site sampling technologies. Primarily I am working to develop new thin film microextraction (TFME) samplers for use with portable GC-MS instrumentation such as the Tridion-9 GC-TMS developed by Torion Technologies inc. My research aims to prepare and evaluate a variety of particle loaded, thin film membranes and develop an interface to allow these membranes to be used in conjunction with said instrumentation. Additional projects involve the development of SPME based samplers for oceanic sampling as well as the development and validation of a portable standard analyte generating systems.
