YSTCM Percussion Alumni Statistics through December 2019: 93% are in music-related careers, 21% have full-time orchestral positions, 14% are full-time chamber musicians, 11% are full-time music lecturers, 57% completed post-graduate studies at major conservatories• Provides a student-centered, individualized approach that has resulted in international prize-winners in Austria, China, Italy, and Japan, and full-time and part-time orchestral members, contemporary and popular chamber musicians, full-time and part-time educators across a dozen countries• Provides private instruction to hone students’ craft in balanced curriculum of keyboard, snare drum, timpani, drum set, and accessories, with focus on technical études, rudimental works, solo compositions, and orchestral repertoire • Arranges interdisciplinary and collaborative learning opportunities each semester with other departments including woodwinds, strings, and piano• Presents a host of performance opportunities and outcomes beyond percussion ensemble including master classes, solo recitals, mixed ensembles, contemporary music, and large ensembles• Arranges visits from major international artists, educators and ensembles, and percussion artists-in-residence• Develops and executes international recruitment strategies to attract highly diverse student body.

  ,• Outreach, non-salaried, long-term project to bring the arts to school and community developing programs for schoolchildren as young as 11 and average age of 14.5 years• Oversaw fundraising for the program that received no funding from the school itself (including establishing and producing annual public fundraising concerts with guest artist collaborations with the students) to facilitate ongoing expenses for teaching, instruments/maintenance, guest artists/clinicians and overseas trips• Expanded seasonal marching band to a year-round concept of concert, marching, and dance/color guard for 60-80 students, including collaborations with professional local dance school • Coordinated a personally sourced network of internationally recognized performers and educators to work with students each year, both 1:1 and in groups• Programmed a blend of competitive (grand champion titles in USA and Germany) and non-competitive collaborations with international artists• Maintained regimen of publicity in local and national media while increasing attendance and interest in community concerts each year• Helped construct the program’s first parental support group for fundraising and volunteerism.
