In addition to my experience in theater, A&E and acute medicine. I have also this year attended courses in immediate life support for both adults and paediatrics. Furthermore I passed the Advanced life support course, a recognised qualification from the UK resus council. I was also highlighted as a candidate from this course to be put forward to become an instructor. For which I have passed the requirements and am now able to teach on future advanced life support courses. Currently I am based in the queen Elizabeth university hospital in Glasgow. Working on a medical and diabetic ward. I this post I was selected for a three month secondment as the band six charge nurse. Following this rewarding secondment I interviewed for a full time post as a charge nurse. I was successful in my interview and will be soon moving to Gastroenterology as a charge nurse Show less

Since graduating as an adult nurse and gaining my registration. I have been working in a remote island hospital. This post has provided me with a wealth of experience. The hospital provides care for a population of close to 3000 people with a varied range of health needs. As it is the only hospital on the island, I have been exposed to a great number of different chronic and acute health needs. The hospital has no laboratory or pharmacy staff, which has meant that I have gained experience in both these feilds that would not normally be gained working in a large hospital. Also as the hospital is often only cover by G.P. doctors on call, I have gained many skills in leadership and care implimentation. Working in a small community has developed my communication skills, trying to ensure that each of my patients leaves my care with a poitive experience. In this post I was the link nurse for moving and handling and being a cleanliness champion was also the link nurse for infection. I helped impliment and train all the hospital staff on a new computer program, designed to aid patient handovers and communication between members of the multi-health professional team. I have also rotated within the hospital to work from the wards to the theater department and the A&E department. Show less
