At NeuroChangers, I established a role for Occupational Therapy within a practice that specializes in the rehabilitation of complex neurological and orthopedic injuries and illnesses during a 10-week “LEAP” placement. During my time here, I effectively managed a full client caseload and provided direct client care through the scope of an Occupational Therapist to help shape a meaningful role within the practice. I trained to independently implement numerous interventions including ADL-specific strategies, adaptive equipment recommendations, wheelchair assessments, cognitive & perceptual rehabilitation, upper extremity rehabilitation and mental health supports. At the end of the placement, I presented the responsibilities included within the role to the NeuroChangers’ managerial team upon the placement’s completion which led to the development of a paid position.
