Designed and implemented Docker infrastructure for the DevOps middleware team. Designed/created Docker deployment workflow and training for DevOps engineers. Worked with project managers, business process owners, developers, and development managers to implement solutions in real, virtual, and cloud-space using AWS, VMWare, Docker, and native infrastructure across Windows, Linux, Unix, and virtual environments. Designed and implemented highly-available architecture for clustered applications running in those environments. These systems are used globally (24/7) for real-time delivery of information and status for life-saving bone marrow and stem cell recipients/donors. Customers include, internally, a staff of 1000 and, externally, thousands of offices worldwide. Co-owned the middleware/DevOps process working with the security team to identify, schedule, and validate security compliance and remediation including PCI/DSS, pen test, and security bulletin remediations. Responsible for the ServiceNow implementation throughout Target’s headquarters and stores. Worked directly with business process owners to re-imagine and re-engineer their traditional workflows and management systems into our ServiceNow architecture. ServiceNow is a SaaS cloud-based ITIL solution that we configured and implemented at Target; used throughout their 323,000-person global workforce. Our architecture used both SOAP and REST methods utilizing JavaScript, JSON, and XML/SAML data to coordinate events (CMDB artifacts, trouble tickets, and service requests) across Target’s global enterprise. Our solutions connected Target and over a dozen external providers to generate real-time information on trouble and request tickets with end-points around the world. Our implementation of a self-sign-up application for the Target help desk was awarded best-in-show technology at ServiceNow’s 2013 trade show. Show less

As middleware team lead from 2000-2008, I worked with enterprise architecture to define and implement the ING Americas Adaptive Architecture (IA3.) We leveraged Siteminder policy servers and infrastructure to create seamless security across platforms and domains in an environment where this was not generally common at that time. I designed and maintained web site and platform reporting tools in Webtrends for over 133 sites throughout our data center, delivering reports daily to business owners and marketing teams. In addition to the usual middleware duties (coordination with business owners, SDLC for hundreds of applications across 300 servers, and 24x7 rotational on-call,) I also on behalf of management conducted interviews and performed project management for our team of up to 20 engineers. I owned and managed our corporate PKI and SSL security certificate processes for all of our middleware infrastructure. Through 2008 we migrated all of our infrastructure to IBM-owned datacenters in Boulder and Denver, CO. When that effort was complete, I left ING to take on the role of middleware architect at Carlson Marketing. In 2009, I was recruited to re-join the ING middleware team as they were moving the infrastructure from Colorado back to a Minneapolis datacenter with failover facilities in Jacksonville, FL. Reported to the Director of Infrastructure and Architecture, I led the architectural roll-out of our new SOA client platform for Hallmark and Visa (clients.) Used the Zachman Framework to develop and maintain enterprise architecture design and specifications with related documentation and processes. Analyzed results of pen and PCI/DSS testing and designed remediation processes. Made version, sizing, and purchasing decisions on servers and software including Weblogic application and portal, (Oracle) ALSB SOA, load-balancers, and ETL processes. Defined monitoring requirements for SOA and related services for central monitoring and alerting. Owned the middleware portion of a datacenter migration in February 2009. Owned middleware SDLC and implementation/health processes. Represented Carlson Marketing in relationships with external vendors and with peers in other divisions of Carlson Companies. Show less
