As a senior tutor with the Field Studies Council my role was to develop and lead field study courses to a high standard in Biology, Geography and Outdoor Education at a residential centre in North Wales. I have experience of teaching Primary and Secondary Schools, adults, PGCE students, teachers and local wardens. In terms of management I was a line manager for 4 GAP placements through which I developed good organisational and communication skills, training, timetabling and mentoring. I was also the EcoCentre Chairman at the centre and as such I was involved in reducing the environmental impact of the centre and promoting sustainability.

As part of a year in New Zealand I volunteered at OPC for 5 months where I developed their environmental interpretation and EIA systems. To develop staff I delivered training for instructors on environmental education and how an understanding of self esteem is important for creating empathy of the environment, this included a 24hour solo immersion experience. During this year I also did some conservation and research work with the Dept of Conservation.
