I am currently working as the Data Manager and as an Assistant Head of the Mathematics Department having been a Dean for the previous 5 years. Currently I provide analysed data to HoDs, Deans and Mentor Teachers so that student progress can be tracked and to aid timely use of student support and intervention programmes. I integrate data from student support programme spreadsheets so that as much data as possible is single entry and to ensure that all relevant data is on all spreadsheets for all meetings. I support school systems such as KAMAR, Assay, Careers Central and SchoolPoint, and I ensure they are integrated to ensure that data is seamlessly passed between them. I also design and support numerous bespoke IT projects within the school where staff have specific data analysis needs. I provide attendance and results tracking for BoT level analysis. I am a registered Assay trainer and am part of the Assay steering group; I have presented at the Wellington Loop Day on the use of Assay. I was a presenter at New Zealand’s first Data Champions for Education conference and I am part of the committee of people ensuring the conference continues and maintains direction. As the Assistant Head of Mathematics I have the responsibility for the management of the Year 13 Calculus course as well as joint responsibility for the Middle Mathematics course for Year 11 and 12 students. I line manage four members of the Mathematics Department and conduct regular meetings and appraisal reviews for the staff members I am responsible for. I have developed numerous schemes of work for both Junior and Senior courses and have provided a huge quantity of resources for all aspects of Mathematics teaching. As I Dean I co-managed a cohort of 400 students from Year 9 to Year 13, during this time I formed excellent relationships with students and their families and helped ensure students were on their desired pathway.

In this role I supported the Head of Department with the management of the teaching and support staff within the department, the delivery of various curricula and the associated testing strategies, and the implementation of school wide policies for planning, assessment and behaviour. I line managed two members of the Mathematics Department and was responsible for following the school policies on performance management and lesson observations to enable the continuing professional development of those teachers. In addition to my teaching duties I was responsible for delivery of the mathematics curriculum at AS and A2 level for 16–18 year old students. I wrote the schemes of work for both the regular mathematics and further mathematics courses including writing internal tests and mark schemes for all assessments undertaken by students studying mathematics at A-Level. I was responsible for implementing effective and timely intervention across the all the key stage 5 Mathematics courses, I have widened the focus of the departmental question level analysis strategy to encompass the A-Level courses and I have created a standardised homework pack for students studying AS mathematics to ensure a consistency of formative assessment and to assist teachers in the management of homework. I contributed to the Mathematics Department’s section with the school wide exams analysis by providing statistical data on the performance of students at key stage 5. As a classroom teacher I taught all the Number, Algebra, Shape and Data units across all ability levels at key stage 3 and key stage 4 as well as teaching Statistics as a separate GCSE. At key stage 5 I have taught all aspects of the core, statistics, mechanics, decision and further mathematics modules at AS and A2 level. I created and delivered sessions on the use of Interactive Whiteboards and on the general use of IT for classroom teachers.

I had five distinct roles at various stages during my three different spells working for SNSL; I was originally employed as a consultant for the Technology Specialist Team who designed and commissioned network management and security solutions. I had to liaise closely with sales staff, customer technical teams and project managers to ensure the design and delivery of bespoke solutions to customers from a broad range of industries. Following a restructuring of the company I was placed in charge of the software installations team who commissioned the security and network management solutions for the customers. After a short spell as a team leader I was asked to work for the Technical Support Team who provided 3rd line technical support for resolving customer issues; as the company’s technical experts the team managed the resolution of complex faults and liaised directly with manufacturer support teams to troubleshoot a varying array of network and software problems. After a year abroad I returned and was contracted to a customer as an on-site engineer working for the Data Networks Support Team using network management software to assist with network maintenance and incident resolution as well as I also advising on network management and security strategy. In my final role I worked as a contractor for the Consultancy Department on security and network management projects for large city banks and legal firms; including strong authentication, intrusion detection, firewalls and security audits from a pre-sales and post-sales perspective.
