Advise continuing and new students with a focus on Social Science (Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, and Public Health) majors. Help students understand degree requirements, set educational and professional goals, and plan a realistic time frame for completion of an undergraduate degree. Developed Unfettered Inquiry, the annual magazine of the School of Arts and Sciences. Currently serve as Editor in Chief and work collaboratively with a designer and a photographer to produce an informative publication with strong visual appeal. Each issue highlights issues in higher education, programs, and guest speakers on campus and student and faculty achievements. Collaborate with fellow advisors to develop workshops and presentations for students which raise the visibility of the Academic Advising Center and introduce students to the college curriculum, degree planning, and strategies for success. Use the Meyers Briggs Type Inventory - both in group workshops and individual consultations - to help students gain insight into their learning style and set academic and professional goals. Presented twice at the NACADA Region 1 conference - "Liberal Arts in a Career Oriented World" and "When Generation X Advises the Millennials." Wrote three book reviews for the NACADA Journal - "Higher Learning, Greater Good" by Walter McMahon, "Four Critical Years Revisited" by Alexander Astin and "Liberal Arts at the Brink" by Victor Ferrall.
