Systems Design Engineer

Research Project LeadLeading the delivery of a series of research projects worth £2.5 million. Created and manage a cross-functional team of 8 to meet a number of internal and external deliverables associated with specific payment milestones. Achievements include: Coordination of a project team that crossed a multitude of different specialisms; ensuring all members a working together to meet the milestones and deliver to the customer. Engaging with external suppliers and negotiating the Statement of Work (SoW) to ensure that the research project requirements are met. I completed this by thoroughly tracing through the requirements identified by the customer and comparing against the proposed SoW.Tiger TeamEstablished and ran a small Tiger Team to help deliver an underperforming major IT programme. Key achievements include: Successfully delivered major benefits from the failing IT project to ensure that external customer deliverable could be completed within the time constrains. Produced a plan with identified resource load to complete the UAT, which resulted in additional users being assigned and avoided unnecessary risk to the project milestones and quality.Research package leadLed a research package of work that looked at integrating a Rolls-Royce product with a partner companies system. Key achievements include: Initialised and chaired workshops involving multiple partner companies where I was able to influence key stakeholders to better understanding the requirements, and avoid costly mistakes based on preconceived concepts. Delivered a series of reports on key integration areas whilst managing a high degree of requirement ambiguity. I proposed a new research project aimed at maturing the methods and technologies required to complete the system requirement that has been accepted.

Component Design Engineer

Responsible for designing a series of components for the Trent XWB. Key achievements include:Completing several component designs of large complex structures which encounter large thermal gradients. These designs helped increase repairability and manufacturability of previous design and are now being used by customersResolved a previously unsolved repair issue on a component by engaging with multiple disciplines and suppliers which has enabled a series of components to be repairable for the first time which helped decrease running costs.
