We demand excellence in our department. Our student-athletes are some of the finest in the nation. In my time at Stevens, I have covered the NCAA Woman of the Year, two recipients of the NCAA Top-10 Award and placed stories in Sports Illustrated and SportsCenter. Five Ducks have been named the best Division III student-athlete in the state of New Jersey over the years. Stevens was twice named the ECAC Institution of the Year within the past decade; other winners in that time include Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Amherst, Williams, and Duke. We are wildly successful on the field, yet given far fewer facilities and financial resources than our aforementioned competitors. That means we have to get creative with coverage, solve problems they never dream of having, and most of all work harder than they do to make sure we attract and retain student-athletes of the highest caliber.
