To safely and effectively operationalize autonomous indoor robots, there is a need to develop a test and evaluation (T&E) pipeline that can: (1) generate large numbers of random scenarios in a simulation environment and automate testing of the robotics stack in each of these scenarios, and (2) automatically map and characterize the physical test environment using highly accurate mapping tools to serve as the benchmark for measuring the ground performance of our indoor robots. In this project, I had to integrate 3D indoor-mapping capabilities onto unmanned ground platforms. This involved sensor integration onto the platform, establishing the modelling & simulation environment and validating the accuracy of the 3D maps for live-virtual validation. Show less
