      As a family ambassador I work to raise awareness and fundraising for Harrison's Fund, supporting their efforts to find a cure or effective treatment for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This is a rare genetic condition resulting in progressive muscle wasting in boys and young adults. Currently there is no cure and but there are potential treatments under development for this severe, life-limiting condition, although these will take years to come to market. One of the big challenges with rare conditions and developing orphan drugs is that the potential population for trials is very small and for Duchenne typically conducted with children 7 - 10 years of age as this is when they are at their strongest and still walking. Often efforts have to be undertaken and coordinated internationally to generate, gather and analyse effective data which can be presented to medical authorities for approval.
