I have known John in his role as Editor in Chief of Contract, through which he propels the design profession into a brighter and more meaningful future. His leadership has enabled the magazine, both in print and online, to become a frontline access point into the world of contract design. A leader in design knowledge, and a visionary curator of design, John has a holistic and enthusiastic approach that offers insight into the industry overall and, specifically, the impact of the work of architects and designers to make the world a better place.

As the 2014 AIA National President, my admiration and appreciation go to John Czarnecki, Assoc. AIA, who served as ‘my’ AIA National Convention Chair for 2014. In seeking a fresh and knowledgeable perspective for this vitally important appointment, I immediately turned to John. He was absolutely stellar in this role and shepherded a hugely successful AIA National Convention that was both aspirational and inspirational. As the leader of the Convention Committee, John directed the development of a diverse program of excellent speakers with broad appeal. His sense of creativity and commitment to excellence were apparent in every aspect of the entire event, from the spirit of the general sessions to the quality of the educational offerings to the richness of the trade show floor. This Convention was themed

As Executive Director of AIA Arizona, a 501c6 member organization that is the statewide component of the American Institute of Architects, I am collaborating with the state board of directors to lead the state's dynamic architecture community and serve AIA Arizona members with quality programming, advocacy, and communications. In total, I work with three boards of directors: AIA Arizona, AIA Phoenix Metro chapter, and the AIA Southern Arizona chapter. For AIA Arizona, I lead sponsorship fundraising efforts, and orchestrate the logistics of our annual state conference and state awards gala. Membership has grown by 10 percent statewide in my tenure through 2022, to surpass new thresholds of more than 1,000 members in the Phoenix Metro chapter and more than 1,300 statewide. I perform all operational aspects of AIA Arizona's political contribution strategy through its Political Action Committee (PAC). Additionally, I am a registered lobbyist in Arizona, and I am charged with the management of all legal and regulatory requirements associated with lobbying and PAC disclosures at the state level.
