John and the Pyro team were an absolute pleasure to work with. Out the box thinking, ability to problem solve and provide a methodical approach to problems are a few of the things that have proven to beneficial in my experience. More importantly he is personable and exudes a pleasant demeanor which is refreshing. I highly recommend John and the Pyro agency to those companies looking for a well balanced marketing agency!

I have been in the restaurant business for over 30 years, many of those were with John and Pyro at our side. John and his team ALWAYS improved the sales and health of our business(es)...but there's just this "thing" about him. He has a complete commitment to partnership - it's not forced - it's real. His spirit is contagious, his leadership unmatched and most importantly, his strength of character...time and again...was the foundation of our success. One. Of. A. Kind.

While I was running the visit Dallas, John performed above and beyond by collaborating with us on time consuming marketing projects of great benefit to our marketing efforts on behalf of Dallas. The first was John's turnkey vetting process for selection of marketing/PR firms in our four niche markets (GLBT, African-American, Asian, and Latino). The second was his ongoing collaboration with the City of Dallas Marketing Committee, comprised of numerous organizations and city entities, to create a unified marketing strategy for the city. John's professionalism, insight and understanding of our industry made him a valued member of the team.

Developed positioning insights and marketing plans for the Motel 6 campaign featuring famous radio spokesperson, Tom Bodett, and the iconic “We’ll Leave The Light On For You”. Helped turn a nearly bankrupt motel chain into a category powerhouse by connecting them to the virtues of frugality and uniquely executing against the simple idea. The campaign went on to win 50 different awards including an EFFIE, five CLIOS, and the Mercury Award for “best radio campaign of 1991”. Assisted with developing a highly-regarded brand management training program, including refinement of training modules. Ran program in 1995 & 1996. Guided the branding and communication planning efforts for more than 26 other brands including AlphaGraphics, Computer City Supercenters, Community Coffee, Memorex, International Delight, Morningstar Foods, Motel 6, Potato Chip Snack Food Association, Radio Advertising Bureau, and Tom Thumb-Page Supermarkets.
