TowerData & FreshAddress merged in Nov 2021 and rebranded as AtData in May 2022 Real-time API for Email Intelligence Metrics Designed and built a RESTful API that serves demographics and other email/postal intelligence metrics to drive marketing solutions. System has processed as much as 5 billion requests per month. Mostly Java back-end deployed using a full complement of Amazon Web Services. Leading team in all aspects of system design and development, including back-end request processing, algorithm design, ETL data conditioning, data/metric generation, infrastructure management, and the logging subsystem. Driving new business with prototype development of real-time streaming of email activity metrics. Show less

Business Process Discovery Research Investigating methods for extracting business events from unstructured and semi-structured data such that the events can be used to reconstruct the underlying business process. Developed a data capture and integration framework for event extraction and conducted case studies on customer data to evaluate the architecture. The framework automates event extraction for common data sources and formats. Using a linked data approach, developed a method for tying a discovered business process to its dependent IT resources, allowing for a more holistic view of the business. Distributed Systems and Networking Research Studied the effectiveness of using publish/subscribe overlay networks to manage timeliness, responsiveness, and reliability for cross-domain environments. Designed techniques to address these quality-of-service concerns and built messaging middleware to evaluate the techniques. Messaging middleware was used to satisfy the messaging requirements for projects in air space surveillance, intelligent energy grids, and water monitoring in the Hudson River. This research was also the subject of an IBM Smarter Planet commercial. Wireless and Mobile Networking Research Designed and built a first-of-a-kind proof-of-concept for intelligent telemetry on-board freight trains using wireless sensor networks. ∙ Research topics studied include the feasibility of scavenging energy on-board, communicating reliably and timely over many hops, predicting mechanical failures, and detecting changes in train configuration. Designed architecture and led 3-member team in building a reference implementation of the architecture, which included 50 embedded sensor nodes, an enterprise gateway, and an energy scavenging prototype. Conducted extensive performance evaluation of the architecture. Show less
