  Activities: • Voyaged from the Caribbean to the Netherlands, transited the entire East Coast of North American, and sailed portions of the North American West Coast. • Led and trained multiple crews in the safe operation and proactive maintenance of all shipboard systems • Planned, managed, and implemented shipboard repairs, maintenance, and system improvements • Planned and managed the engineering projects for two drydock periods as well as eight additional maintenance periods. • Ensured regulatory compliance of all systems, drafted systems plans for regulatory inspection and approval, interfaced with regulators regarding shipboard operations and systems Key Project: Systems Overhaul for Training Ship Harvey Gamage – 3 Months Ahead of and during the training ship Harvey Gamage’s annual dry dock period, I led a team of marine engineers as we overhauled the ship’s aging engineering systems, including rebuilding the main engine, sewage systems, and electrical systems. This demanded close stakeholder collaboration, precise project management, deep technical expertise, and over 2500 personnel hours. My team met all deadlines, came in under budget, and surpassed regulatory expectations for all systems. In a surprise move – and in direct response to our hard work – regulators extended the vessel’s certification for the next five years instead of the customary one year period. Show less

I worked with senior leadership to develop five-year growth plans for the company focused on retail and commercial sales development. Additionally, I performed and presented detailed market analysis highlighting product opportunities, market strategies, and potential business risks facing the company in the next five years. Over the next two years, the client was able to Double revenue, cut costs by 30%, and compete aggressively with new products. • HR Policy Development for Largest Ice Cream Retailer in Northern Nevada – 3 Months Our client had a historic workforce retention problem, which only worsened during the pandemic. Working collaboratively with the client, I paired intensive staff interviews with industry research on best practices in HR policies. I developed innovative workforce development plans, reinvented staff disciplinary policies, and implemented an aggressive recruitment strategy. As a result, my client was able to not just attract and retain talent, but their recruitment pool went from near-empty to overflowing.   Selected Projects: • Process Improvement for Capital Infrastructure Upgrades – 6 Months For the City of Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services, I collaborated with over 100 city staff to map, analyze, and plan improvements for a critical business process involving 500 staff and carrying $109 million USD of capital infrastructure improvement projects. As a result of my team’s improvement plan, the City was about to more than double the number of capital improvement projects completed annually, allowing public servants to keep up with a substantial increase in infrastructure deterioration. • SAP Replacement for The City of Portland Budget Office – 3 Months I collaborated with subject matter experts from every city bureau to gather, analyze, and rank over 3000 system requirements to replace aging SAP budget software. We compiled these design requirements into a bidding package to attract a software developer, delivering this to the city procurement office alongside a change management plan for transitioning their workforce and systems. The new software saved the city an estimated 26000 staff hours – obviously rendering substantial savings. However, under our advice, rather than liquidating labor savings our client directed freed staff to focus on higher impact public service work. • Logistics Planning for the US Army – 6 Months As a contractor, I was responsible for developing equipment supply and logistic plans, forecasting equipment shortages, drafting facility movement plans, and managing a 9000 object SQL relational database. When I came onboard, the project was projected to come in 3 months behind schedule and run substantially over budget.
