Oversee the administrative management of a nonprofit dedicated to workforce training of opportunity youth and creating reentry opportunities for those persons who were previously incarcerated. I write, secure, implement and constantly evaluate public and private grants. Climb CDC has assisted opportunity youth through the Department of Labor's Workforce Innovations and Opportunity Act grant, the YouthBuild Program, AmeriCorps, and Conservation/GulfCorps Programs. Climb provides educational opportunities, job readiness training, on-the-job experience, and job placement. Climb CDC is making a difference in the community by promoting strong communities, creating individual access to positive opportunities that inspire a lifestyle of self-reliance. When I assumed this position, Climb CDC was experiencing a $250,000 annual deficit. It had only one viable program. Now, Climb CDC operates in the "black" and oversees or implements some 11 programs valued in excess of $2.5 million, with a staff of approximately 20. According to our latest external audit, approximately 80% of all funding goes into programming.
