John was my direct manager during key learning years of my career. He is passionate, diligent and very hard working on any tasks presented to him. His technical and business knowledge makes him a natural leader and by following whom you are bound to learn a lot. His technical skill makes him easy to engage at every level of experience with an ease. I have also seen John identify key talent attributes from junior team members early on and have seen him groom them for future. I would work for him any time if there is an opportunity in future.

John was my direct manager at Macquarie Group. He is a hands-on technical manager with breadth and depth in both technical problem solving and financial markets. He is a confident leader who delegates to his team allowing for increased overall team productivity. His leadership abilities and strong work ethic allowed him to be an active developer and manage multiple development projects, while supporting a front-office credit trading desk. John's unique combined skills are a rare set that are required for effective management of experienced software engineers. He is at the top of my list in terms of productivity, leadership and technical ability.

      - Developed an historical relative value application providing comparative statistical time series analytics. Application consisted of Motif UI and CORBA service. - Analyzed several MBS valuation methodologies, both static and OAS-based, for performing daily risk evaluation of all positions against multiple interest rate, curve, spread, and volatility scenarios. - Implemented MBS risk batch process employing two term Taylor series approximations from effective duration and convexity measures. - Designed and implemented an interest rate scenario infrastructure in C++ based on a language for describing general sequential parallel and non-parallel rate shifts. - Developed all analytics, databases, and batch scripts needed to support interest rate and prepayment models including the calculation of current coupon yields, estimated mortgage rates, and treasury rate volatilities. - Redesigned and implemented various C++ classes modeling generic TBA and specified aggregate (origination year) pass through MBS. Also re-implemented C++/FORTRAN interface to FORTRAN prepayment model improving performance and enabling access to historical SMM projections. - Designed and implemented a named attribute framework enabling the symbolic binding of core fixed income analytics to Tcl command language. Developed cron-based synchronous process execution environment for orchestrating daily, weekly, and monthly batch processes. Implemented entire mortgage batch and report generation infrastructure on UNIX via this infrastructure, retiring legacy mainframe processes. Show less
