Associate VP - Institutional Effectiveness
-
Jul 2009 - Jul 2012
In the summer of 2009 I moved from the business school, where I had been dean for six years, to a new position at American International College. I am the Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness. The key features of this job - which is a fairly standard position in higher education but does not mean much to people outside of this field - are strategic planning, performance management (specifically assessing the learning outcomes achieved by students), and institutional research (for purposes of compliance and grant writing as well as public information and competitive analysis). Assistant Professor of Management
-
Sep 1999 - Jul 2003
I took this position as a way to reenter the academic community and thoroughly enjoyed my time as a college professor. However, after four years at the College, the President approached me about taking on the role of Dean for the School of Business Administration. I agree to do so and moved my career path from teaching into educational administration. However, I did retain my faculty status and do teach one or two courses per semester.

The New Dimensions program is an accelerated degree program with learning centers throughout the state of Connecticut. It is a very exciting program that meets the needs of working adult professionals for further training in business. The degress offered are: Bachelors and Associates in Business, MS in Management, and MBA. My teaching focused on the graduate programs. I was also actively involved in administration and program management including development of a new MBA degree. Show less

VP Human Resources

Sep 1979 - Mar 1998
I spent twenty years at this firm, an international direct seller and manufacturer with operations in a dozen countries and annual sales of approximately half a billion dollars. Stanhome was a NYSE firm and for a time was listed as a Fortune 500 company. The firm was reorganized in 1998 and the international operations where I worked were sold to the French personal care and cosmetics firm, Groupe Yves Rocher. I worked with Yves Rocher in their headquarters in Paris for a year on a transition assignment before returning to the USA at the beginning of 1999. Show less
