Bio
Jamie McIntosh
John Richmond rendered exemplary service leading IJM's work in South Asia. His was a sacrificial cultivation, joyfully undertaken in highly demanding circumstances. Now many seasons later, his efforts continue to yield good fruit and growing harvests. John has left in his trail what one might aptly call a legacy - a legacy of freedom. John's winsome self-deprecation, constant consideration and down-to-earth professionalism naturally drew together a disparate group of professionals into what would quickly become a close-knit, cross-cultural family -- and a most serious force to be reckoned with. In solidarity with their sisters and brothers held in a contemporary form of slavery, John's gifted team and their supporters carved out a trail of promise for the progressive reduction - and perhaps eventual eradication - of bonded labour (where it has long been illegal yet remains deeply entrenched). Their concerted efforts have led to the release from bondage several hundreds of courageous women, children and men, and has heralded the demise of impunity for those who would traffic in human beings. And the story of hope is still being written. As one who has been witness to John Richmond's leadership at the very frontlines of injustice in our day, I would be honoured to serve unreservedly under him in any cause. And I am confident I would not be alone.
