My goal is to affect change academically, emotionally and socially within my community. I want to address the specific needs of the African American community – and Black males in particular. I want to help "build" the next generation of productive, involved, responsible citizens. To me, education in its purest form means that reading, writing and mathematics are taught at a level that insures an individual can function, and hopefully thrive, as a valued member of society. The youth in my community need to be taught self-discipline, respect for authority, emotional "toughness", and empathy...characteristics that a lot of kids lack today. I want to help create an environment where the next generation feels empowered to solve it’s own problems. If we teach and practice, self-discipline, personal accountability, leadership and community service from a young age, we’ll raise a generation of “do’ers” who are concerned about their fellow man and the overall wellness of their community.
