I had the opportunity to work alongside or directly for John over the past two and a half decades. I have always found John as a level headed, passionate leader who is always looking toward future improvements and strategies that could help the organization. He was also looking out for how the organization could help our customers, would it be internal or external facing. His management style provided latitude for innovation and helped direct activities that would improve the organizations IT contributions. John also kept a cool head in situations that were stressful and helped keep those around him focused and supported. He will be a valuable member of any IT group in almost any industry.

I reported to John at ARUP Laboratories for 9 years. As CIO of a health care company that runs 24x7 365 days/year, John had tremendous responsibilities to ensure that critical systems were always available, as well as to continue to move the organization forward with new, strategic initiatives. He did both of these extremely well. I always appreciated John's management style. He was willing to give his direct reports enough autonomy to try different things while staying engaged with everything going on in his organization. When crisis situations did occur John was always calm and customer-focused. John would be a valuable senior IT leader within any company.
