Student Executive Advisory Committee
-
Jun 2018 - Dec 2020
Elected by students as one of only 15 Student Executives from all across Victoria to represent students on issues surrounding the education system. In this role, I was a driving force for advocacy on fundamental issues, acting as a liaison between students and the Department of Education to empower students, and was a key figure in the strategic direction of the organization. Throughout my term, some outcomes include, but are not limited to: - facilitating and hosting workshops for students, teachers and education stakeholders to empower student voice and advocacy - advocating for various issues, including Political Education, Inclusive Indigenous Education and Gender Equality - regularly meeting with various education stakeholders and DET representatives, including the Education Minister James Merlino and VCAA - MC'ed various events, including the annual Student Voice Awards - Pioneered and lead the redevelopment of the Civics and Citizenship Curriculum- planning and developing resources that are now published on the Victorian Curriculum website. - Speaking on behalf of students on various issues in media outlets - Working alongside the Executive Committee to consult students and develop a comprehensive COVID-19 impact report for VCE students in particular, which was submitted to Education Stakeholders. Through this, I was able to play a key role in advocating for an equal system for all VCE students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Show less
