      Various functions: Vast majority of time in front line services for M&S. Running their stores, and being parachuted into different underperforming stores over the years to re-engage staff, and customers in turnaround programmes. • Staff management. No more than 10 direct reports. But ultimately managed over 100 people depending on store size with the maximum being over 500 at one of the blue ribbon stores. • P&L Management for the store. • Reporting to regional managers and HQ on a weekly and monthly basis • Part of the Store Development Leadership Team (SDLT). This was tasked at senior management level to develop the new concepts for the stores and try them out. • Oversaw refit and re launch of key stores including doubling a store in size. - Oversaw local PR and was the face of the transformation internally and in the local area. • Chosen by Head Office to run the Marks & Spencer’s Store in the entrance to The Royal Show as a showpiece event. • Seconded to Head Office from 1990 onwards for month’s at a time to oversee or be part of special projects - Examples include the internal store re launch of Children’s Clothing Merchandising - The scoping and store layout for Food Group in main M&S Stores as a ‘concession’ • Staff development. Put in key KPI’s for staff to work towards their own CPD and bonus structure. • Engendered a can do attitude among my peers and my team. • Weathered some difficult trading times with M&S trading figures. Ensured there were local ideas to help increasing trading performance. • Area and Regional Management cover for many different regions in the UK. Seconded as and when needed from my ‘home store’.
