Completed work placement for Cork City Council on a project assessing the Historic Spine of Cork City. I greatly developed and applied various skills that will stand to me in my future professional career as a planner. I utilised and developed my analytical, observation and research skills primarily during this work placement. My duties involved working on a specific project detailing the condition and function of the buildings along the historic spine of Cork City. This involved surveying over two hundred buildings and cross checking them against a check list which had been developed by my supervisors. I was aware of my limitations and inexperience in the area upon which the work placement was orientated and was given excellent guidance and support by my supervisor and the councils Conservation Officer. This enabled me to gain valuable experience with regard to working in a team and under supervision of my superiors who parted with valuable opinions and technical expertise which I had previously been taught during the M.Plan course.
