John spent many years dedicated to serving the residents of Springfield. He worked in the patrol and investigation divisions. He was a major crime investigator and had training in conflict resolution, verbal judo and negotiations. He was awarded officer of the year in 2008 and awarded the meritorious service award in 2012 for life saving efforts that went beyond the call of duty.
