I am responsible for helping with processing, accessioning, barcoding, deswabbing and entering up to 15,000 COVID-19 specimens into bio-storage in accordance with chain of custody logistics in a day.I work closely with my co-workers, as well as the wet-lab employees to ensure that the correct amount of specimens have been received, documented, and are carefully processed and handled to avoid any issues relating to contamination, misplacement of specimens or creating a hazardous work environment for others. As an Accessioner, we utilize CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and other internal data systems, including Microsoft Excel, to preform data entry and specimens tracking.
