I did some work earlier this year with John and colleagues to develop ELC’s next three year strategic plan. A very positive experience. John’s drive and determination to ensure a highly participative approach that engaged trustees, staff and volunteers shone through. He managed exceptionally well the need to be strategic and forward looking but embrace the existing strengths within the organisation and its solid achievements to date. He stepped up to the plate in terms of showing leadership when required but also acknowledged and valued others’ ability to lead on areas where they had their own expertise. The culture and atmosphere in the Centre itself is testimony to his ability to work well with people at all levels and be person centred in his own dealings with people.

I have known John for several years since meeting at an ACOSVO conference. John is a very genuine person who has a wealth of experience in both public and third sector and he is always willing to listen and to share the benefit of his knowledge in a supportive way. John is an "ideas" person who is great at coming up with solutions. I value his insight, creativity and sense of humour.
