Jack combines an impeccable reputation for excellence with honesty, integrity, patience and a dedication to take on complex matters and see them through to successful completion. His ability to grasp the pieces of a complex mosaic and to assemble them into a comprehensive "portrait" that is readily understandable is unique in my long career of managing world class scientific laboratories and manufacturing facilities. Jack is a superb communicator and is an equally impressive listener. These characteristics along with a self assured, diplomatic demeanor, enable him to establish meaningful dialogues even in testy and often hostile/contentious situations and thus to establish a path for successful resolution of issues. Jack is a team player and not one to cloak himself with personal attributions and claims of "victory." He would be a tremendous asset to any organization, and I am pleased to have this opportunity to endorse him.

On Thursday, August 31, I retired from the Department of Justice after nearly 42 years. On Friday, I started a new job as Litigation Director for the Government Accountability Project, a non-profit that protects government and industry whistleblowers who disclose violations of laws and regulations and other instances of fraud, waste and abuse. I am excited to continue to serve the public interest in a new way! GAP's web site is at www.whistleblower.org. On Thursday, August 31, I retired from the Department of Justice after nearly 42 years.
