In this role I was responsible for co-devising and delivering dance classes to children and young people aged 4-16 years. The work was challenging and enjoyable, as each age group, and each child had different levels of ability, and different ways to learn. Working as a team with the teacher allowed for creativity in how to engage the children. We would often use group tasks to help them draw out each other's curiosity. I learnt when to give the children space, and how to offer a light intervention to recapture their focus, or unlock new creative avenues. Through this work I learnt to engage and manage large groups of young people. I became more skilled in connecting with children, observing the progress of their learning, and understanding their unique needs. I learnt a lot through working as a team to plan and deliver the classes. I became skilled to move between a leading and supporting role. I became familiar with child safety protocols, and with making appropriate risk assessments. I left this role when my studies took me abroad, and did not resume after I transitioned to my Masters.

In this role I was responsible with my colleagues for the front of house and administrative aspects of LCDS auditions. We would greet and register the auditionees, and support them through the audition process. Throughout the day we were available to answer their questions, help them feel oriented and set them at ease. We were responsible for the logistics of people and audio files during auditions. Finally, we processed and filed the paperwork associated with the auditionees. This role required me to be a friendly and enthusiastic, clear and empathetic communicator. I learnt to connect quickly with individuals, and with larger groups, to offer an informative and comforting interaction. The role required me to be focused and well organised as part of a team. as we each moved through various activities to co-ordinate the logistics of the day. I thrived in this role by being passionate and knowledgeable about the domain of the work, and by passing this enthusiasm to those around me.
